Soyombo: Lagos State do not need teachers for now

The Director of Lagos State Education Quality Assurance Unit, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, described the various adverts on social media that Lagos State Ministry of Education are in need of teachers as scam. She made this known at the 2015 United Nations International Youth Day organized by Strategy Mentoring International for Leadership Empowerment (SMILE) in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre, Lagos recently.
The event which took place at the Main Auditorium of the University of Lagos, Akoka was used to commemorate the 12th of August picked by the United Nations Council of Ministers to celebrate and educate youth all around the world on their contribution to nation building.
Mrs Soyombo admonishes the public not to heed to this advert because those doing it are swindlers. Furthermore, she congratulate the youth on their 17th International Youth Day celebration and told them that this is the best event she has attended this year. As an alumnus of University of Lagos, she counseled youth by saying “(your) Background have nothing to do with (your) success.” She continue with “Application of knowledge is the real way to acquire education. Some people are discouragers; lack of parental attention is not an excuse to be discourage.”
With same mindset, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Idiat Oluranti Adebule represented by Mrs Yetunde Odeja, entrust the youth especially teenagers with nation building and integration and engage themselves in civic activities from now on to eliminate the popular saying that “youth are the leaders of tomorrow” which does not allow them to effect change from early age though some want to.
Furthermore, Mrs Bimpe Bamgbose Martin, the Founder of SMILE, thanks United Nations for its supports as well as the Dean of Students’ Affair, University of Lagos for providing the venue for the event. Also in her admonitory remark said teenagers from secondary schools in the audience should emulate Miss Lanaire Aderemi, who is helping “bagless” school children through her Bag for the Bagless Initiave.

Other dignitaries at the event are Ronald Kayanja, the Director of United Nations Information Centre, Lagos; Mrs Kemi Ajumobi, Head HBL BusinessDay; Praise Fowowe, CEO of Centre for Sex Education and Family Life; Mr Adebola Williams, co-founder and Partner at Red Media Africa; Mr Jimi Tewe, CEO Inspiro Consulting and many others.
